Substrate

Properties/tests

• The substrate must be sound, clean and free from cracks and separating substances.
• The residual moisture of the substrate must be < 4.0 CM%.
• The adhesive tensile strength of the substrate must be at least 1.5 N/mm².
• The surface of the substrate must be dry before starting the coating work. Moisture on the substrate leads to blistering and/or adhesion problems.

Pretreatment

• Dirt, separating agents, oils, mortar residues, old coats of paint etc. must be removed by shot blasting, milling or sand blasting.
• The substrate is prepared with the primer HADALAN Velo-Base. The technical data sheet for HADALAN Velo-Base must be observed.
• As a membrane layer in the HADALAN balcony protection system, HADALAN EBG 13E is to be used as a leveling compound in 2 mm layer thickness. The material can be applied to damp substrates and serves as a vapor compensation layer.
• The subsequent layer of HADALAN Velo-Seal can be applied to the dried layer of HADALAN EBG 13E without any further contact layer (quartz).
• Existing expansion joints must be prepared for the coating work, e.g. by installing expansion joint profiles. Expansion joints must be incorporated into the waterproofing layer. Reworking is not permitted.
• Pre-treat plastic or metal substrates with HADALAN HV Uni 30DD.

Processing

Mixing / Preparation / Processing

• Before mixing the two resin components, the color pigment HADALAN ColourPowder is stirred into the resin component (component A) using a suitable stirrer (approx. 400 rpm) with DLX stirrer Ø 120 mm to color the coating without leaving streaks.
• The entire hardener component (Comp. B) is then added to the resin component (Comp. A) and mixed homogeneously. The mixing time is at least 2 minutes. The little mixed components adhering to the container wall, the base and the stirrer must be scraped off and added to the mix. The material is then transferred to a clean mixing vessel (repotted) and mixed thoroughly again.

Processing

• After mixing, the connection areas, penetrations etc. are coated first.
• HADALAN Velo-Seal is then spread evenly to a thickness of 2 mm using the Special 48 toothed strip. The fresh layer must be deaerated immediately using a metal spiked roller.
• Surface design with color chips: HADALAN ColourChips 89V are sprinkled into the fresh coating by hand, using a sprinkling cup or chip gun in the desired coverage. After drying, the surface is sealed with HADALAN Velo-Flex transparent.
• Design with natural stone filler coating: With the binder HADALAN BM2K 12P, the natural stone filler coating with the marble grain HADALAN MST 89M can be applied directly to the waterproofing layer HADALAN Velo-Seal. If the marble blocks HADALAN MST 89M are produced with the 1-component binder HADALAN LF68 12P, an adhesive layer with HADALAN Velo-Base is applied after the waterproofing layer HADALAN Velo-Seal has dried through and sanded with Quartz051 57M. The marble filler layer can be applied after approx. 45 minutes. Apply HADALAN MST 89M according to the processing guidelines and the technical data sheet
• General: Due to the fast reaction time of the material, ensure that the material is processed quickly. We recommend scheduling at least three employees for the application. More for larger areas. Larger areas should be divided into sections. Tools must be cleaned or replaced regularly using HADALAN EPV 38L. Only prepare as much material as can be applied within the pot life. The applied layers must be recoated within 24 hours. If subsequent coats cannot be applied in accordance with the specifications, a primer coat of HADALAN HV Uni 30DD adhesion promoter is required. For uni-colored surfaces, only use complete container units. Partial quantities can lead to color deviations.

Cleaning the tools

• Tools must be cleaned or replaced regularly using HADALAN^® EPV 38L.

Notes

• For easier application and better leveling, a material temperature of at least 10 °C is recommended.
• The maximum coating intervals of 24 hours must be observed.
• High humidity accelerates, low humidity delays the solidification process.
• The substrate temperature must be at least 3 °C above the dew point temperature during application and curing.
• Process the material quickly.
• Processing beyond the pot life leads to poor results in terms of film strength and visual impression.
• Only use materials from one batch.
• With coating systems that can be applied by hand traces of application may remain visible This applies in particular to grazing light or larger contiguous areas, create a sample area if necessary.
• To maintain the surface quality of the coating, the use of care products and regular cleaning of the floors is recommended (see HADALAN epoxy resin flooring care instructions).
• Grinding stresses can lead to scratchingof the surface.
• If the surface is coated with HADALAN MST 89M or covered with HADALAN ColourChips 89V in excess, we recommend matching the color of the HADALAN Velo-Seal waterproofing to the marble stones or the respective scattering.
