Features

Properties

HADALAN® EBG 13E is a 2-component, highly reactive epoxy resin dispersion that can be used as a primer or in combination with HADALAN® filler mixtures in various layer thicknesses in many areas.Scratch levelling compounds and levelling coatings based on HADALAN® EBG 13E are water vapour permeable and can therefore also be used on substrates that are soaked on the reverse side without the risk of detachment or osmotic blistering. In HADALAN® Balcony Protection, it serves as a levelling compound in 2 mm layer thickness as a membrane layer and ensures vapour pressure equalisation on damp substrates. For subsequent system build-ups, press-on moisture must be excluded and, if necessary, the component must be allowed to dry down to the equilibrium moisture content.

Processing

Substrate

Suitable substrates

  • Mineral substrates
  • Ceramic substrates

Properties/tests

  • The compressive strength of the substrate should be at least 25 N/mm².
  • In principle, the substrate must be suitable for the coating system.
  • The surface adhesive tensile strength must not fall below 1.5 N/mm².
  • On anhydrite screed, its moisture content must < be 0.5 CM-%.
  • Compatibility with existing coatings must be checked.
  • The substrate must be solid, clean, dust-free, absorbent, load-bearing and free from separating agents, corrosion-promoting components or other layers interfering with adhesion.
  • The moisture content of the substrate must be ≤ 6.0 CM-%.

Pretreatment

  • The floor surface must be prepared by suitable measures, e.g. diamond grinding, milling or blasting.
  • Separating substances and loose components must be consistently removed.
  • Layers containing surface aids (e.g. waxes) must be removed.

Processing

Temperature

  • Maintain a working and curing temperature (material, substrate and ambient air temperature) of + 8 °C to + 25 °C.

Mixing / Preparation / Processing

  • Allow curing component to flow completely into the main component.
  • Then repot into a clean container and intermix thoroughly again.
  • The mixing time is approximately 2 minutes.

Processing

  • Application as a primer:
Depending on the absorbency of the substrate, the mixture is now diluted with 50 to 100% water and stirred again. The primer prepared in this way can be applied using a suitable tool (Premium polyamide roller). Avoid allowing puddles to form.
Once the primer has dried (approx. 4 hours), the surface can be finished with a vapor-permeable coating. A wet-on-wet application is also possible, but this does not guarantee reliable pore closure.
After complete drying (1 day), HADALAN ® EBG 13E is also suitable, for substrates not affected by moisture from the back, as a primer and pore sealer for subsequent water vapor barrier coatings (e.g., HADALAN® VS 12E/ -VS-E 12E).
  • Application in the HADALAN® Balcony System:
HADALAN® EBG 13E should be used as a self-leveling compound with a layer thickness of 2 mm to serve as the membrane layer in the HADALAN® Balcony System. The material can be applied to damp substrates and serves as a vapor barrier. Self-leveling compounds should then be smoothed with a spiked roller.
Uplifting moisture must be prevented for the subsequent overall system; if necessary, the component should be allowed to dry further after applying the membrane layer until the equilibrium moisture content in the component is reached.
Finally, the leveling compound is sealed, e.g., with HADALAN® LF51 12E/-LF41 12E, in the desired color. Alternatively, HADALAN® Topcoat M 12P can be used as a pore sealer; for a glossy protective sealant, use HADALAN® Topcoat G 32P or HADALAN® V31 13E
  • Vapor-permeable EP mortar:
8.5 kg binder + 90–120 kg (3–4 bags) HADALAN® FGM012 57M. Mix in smaller batches depending on the mixing equipment.
Apply the mixtures to the previously primed substrate. Apply the fully mixed mixtures using tools suitable for the intended application, e.g., a notched trowel, a notched scraper, a trowel, and a finishing trowel.
  • Once fully dry (1 day), HADALAN® EBG 13E is also suitable for use as a primer and pore sealer for subsequent vapor-retardant coatings if the substrate is not damp on the reverse side (e.g., HADALAN ® VS 12E/ -VS-E 12E).

Cleaning the tools

  • Clean all tools and equipment with water immediately after use.

Notes

  • Maintain application and curing temperature (material, substrate and ambient temperature) of +18 °C to +25 °C.
  • The relative humidity must not exceed 80%. The substrate temperature must be at least 3 °C above the dew point temperature.
  • High temperatures accelerate, low temperatures delay the solidification and curing process.
  • Unfavorable drying conditions can lead to surface irritation of the leveling compound.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during curing and drying of the material.
  • Exposure to sunlight may result in yellowing of the coating. A UV-resistant top coat of paint is recommended here.
