Substrate

Properties/tests

• The substrate must be sound, clean and free from cracks and separating substances.
• The residual moisture of the substrate must be < 4.0 CM%.
• The adhesive tensile strength of the substrate must be at least 1.5 N/mm².
• The surface of the substrate must be dry before starting the coating work. Moisture on the substrate leads to blistering and/or adhesion problems.

Pretreatment

• Dirt, separating agents, oils, mortar residues, old coats of paint etc. must be removed by shot blasting, milling or sand blasting.
• As a membrane layer in the HADALAN balcony protection system, HADALAN EBG 13E is to be used as a leveling compound in 2 mm layer thickness. The material can be applied to damp substrates and serves as a vapor levelling layer. The subsequent layer of HADALAN DS91 13E can be applied to the dried layer of HADALAN EBG 13E without a further contact layer (quartz).
• Existing expansion joints must be prepared for the coating work, e.g. by installing expansion joint profiles. Expansion joints must be incorporated into the waterproofing layer. Reworking is not permitted.

Processing

Mixing / Preparation / Processing

• The hardener component is completely mixed into the resin component. The components are mixed homogeneously using a slow-speed stirring tool (approx. 400 rpm) with a stirring paddle. The mixing time is at least 3 minutes.
• The material is then transferred to a clean mixing vessel and mixed again. This work step is necessary as material that is not mixed homogeneously (from container walls or stirring paddle) leads to damage to the seal (material does not harden, remains sticky).

Processing

• After mixing, the connection areas, penetrations etc. are coated first.
• HADALAN DS91 13P is then spread evenly to a thickness of 2 mm using the Special 48 toothed strip. The use of mohair rollers is recommended for the upstand area.
• For coating inclined and vertical surfaces, the stability can be increased by adding HADALAN SM 57DD. To do this, add 1 – 2 l of HADALAN SM 57DD to 4 kg of HADALAN DS91 13P and mix in homogeneously.

Subsequent coating / Suitability for coating

• Single-color design: HADALAN DS91 13P is coated in color with HADALAN PUR Top 32P after drying.
• Design with color chips: After drying, HADALAN DS91 13P is coated with HADALAN PUR Top 32P and HADALAN ColourChips 89V are sprinkled into the fresh coating by hand, using a sprinkling cup or Chiron blower. After drying, the surface is sealed with HADALAN PUR Top 32P transparent.
• Design with natural stone trowel finish: HADALAN DS91 13P is applied in color with HADALAN PUR Top 32P after drying and sanded with Quartz0105 57M. (This process can be significantly accelerated with the accelerator HADALAN BPT 37DD, so that the adhesive layer can be reworked after approx. 20 minutes). Apply HADALAN MST 89M in accordance with the processing guidelines and the technical data sheet.
• Recoating: If subsequent opaque coatings cannot be applied according to the specifications between 24 and 48 hours, a primer coat with the adhesion promoter HADALAN HV Uni 30DD is required after a standing time of more than 48 hours. HADALAN HV Uni 30DD can also be applied after 12 hours, e.g. for cleaning purposes. Separating substances on the surface must be removed, either by applying HADALAN HV Uni 30DD or mechanically.

Cleaning the tools

• Clean tools immediately after use with HADALAN EPV 38L.
• Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

Notes

• Maintain a processing temperature of +10 °C to +30 °C.
• Acclimatize/store material for at least 24 hours at room temperature >+14 °C before processing.
• The product is moisture-reactive. The material must therefore be protected from moisture until it has completely hardened. The substrate to be coated must be dry.
• High temperatures accelerate, low temperatures delay the solidification and curing process.
• Significant color changes are to be expected when using partial quantities.
• Observe the coating distances.
